I visited the Flatlands Subway on the corner of Avenue I today around 1 PM and was once again disappointed by the poor customer service from one particular employee. While the gentlemen working there are always polite and professional, the short Indian woman serving today displayed a consistently unpleasant attitude.
I prefer my bacon to be fried separately so that it is crispy, and every time I make this request, she responds with visible frustration. Today, I ordered two sandwiches, and to my shock, she placed my sandwich directly over the garbage bin on the counter. This is a clear violation of basic food safety standards. The sandwich itself was on the counter, but the end of the bread was touching the plastic liner protruding from the trash can. If a health inspector were present, this would undoubtedly result in a failed inspection.
When I politely asked her not to place my food in such an unsanitary manner, she became visibly irritated. Instead of correcting the issue or offering a simple apology, she turned to her colleague and made a remark in her language, which only reinforced her dismissive attitude. This is not the first time I have encountered such behavior from her, but today’s incident compelled me to formally address it.
I sincerely hope management takes corrective action, as I would hate to take my business elsewhere due to one employee’s disregard for basic hygiene and customer service standards. I look forward to hearing from the establishment regarding the steps that will be taken to ensure employees adhere to proper food handling protocols and treat customers with respect.
