My wife was charged for gptcag.com on 12/12 and didn’t notice. Today 1/15 she received a text from her bank inquiring if she recognized the charge from gptcag.com, which she didn’t. I searched said website and it took me to a billing page. I hesitantly called the number hoping I wouldn’t fall into a larger scam. They asked for my name and the last 4 digits of the card being billed and they put me on hold. They came back and said that they didn’t have any data that matched that information I gave them so I gave them my wife’s name who is on the card that was being charged. Again they put me on hold and when they returned they said that indeed it was an account under that name. They asked to speak to my wife and informed her that it was for a subscription to Activate VPN. She requested it be cancelled and for a refund of the charge of the previous month, to which they agreed. We aren’t holding our breath on receiving that refund, though today’s charge was stopped by our bank and reversed. When and how did they obtain her billing information? We have no idea. In the meantime her card has been cancelled.
