“We were unexpectedly charged $2.00 by a company called ActivateVPN.com under the billing name GMOHYA.COM. This charge was not authorized. We contacted ActivateVPN and they said they would cancel subscription (which we never applied for) but would not issue a refund.
After contacting our bank, we were advised to cancel the card and have a new one issued to prevent further unauthorized transactions.
If anyone else has experienced this, we recommend checking your bank statements, disputing the charge, and securing your payment information immediately.”
“My wife was charged for gptcag.com on 12/12 and didn’t notice. Today 1/15 she received a text from her bank inquiring if she recognized the charge from gptcag.com, which she didn’t. I searched said website and it took me to a billing page. I hesitantly called the number hoping I wouldn’t fall into a larger scam. They asked for my name and the last 4 digits of the card being billed and they put me on hold. They came back and said that they didn’t have any data that matched that information I gave them so I gave them my wife’s name who is on the card that was being charged. Again they put me on hold and when they returned they said that indeed it was an account under that name. They asked to speak to my wife and informed her that it was for a subscription to Activate VPN. She requested it be cancelled and for a refund of the charge of the previous month, to which they agreed. We aren’t holding our breath on receiving that refund, though today’s charge was stopped by our bank and reversed. When and how did they obtain her billing information? We have no idea. In the meantime her card has been cancelled.”
“I was also scammed. I cancelled my card and disputed the card with my bank. Turns out they were trying to charge more transactions but I luckily cancelled the debit card before they did. Before I cancelled the card, they were able to clear $1.25 for gfgamescs.com, and two charges for onestent.com for $1.95 and $39.95. Catch it early otherwise they will keep charging until you stop it. Put a hold on your back card immediately!”
“Another person that was charged for something I didn’t request or order. I called the phone# associated with the charge and stopped all billing and got my money back. They had no signature and it stated unknown charge for method. More bad people doing bad things online, imagine that!”
“Also charged $1.25 and then 2 days later $ 34.95 , I didn't accept this charge and didn't create any account on this vpn. They even don't have any application in play store, so they are scammers. Luckly Billing support helped to identify the receiver and cancelled the payment”
“My story is familiar to readers of earlier reviews. I noticed the unfamiliar charges to my credit card of $1.25, followed by $34.95 and didn't recognize the payee https://mhscsnow.com. The simplistic website at that address was for something called billingsupport (one word, all lower case). The phone number on the site, 833-747-5736, looks like a U.S. number, but the address on the site is in "London, England." I called the number, and the person I spoke to readily agreed to cancel my membership--which I had never signed up for--and said I would be added to a blacklist that would keep me from being charged again. He was vague about how the firm got my credit card number but said ActivateVPN is a virtual private network. I have no idea whether that's true, but I already have VPN service from elsewhere and certainly didn't need another. When I asked, he agreed to refund the charges and said it would take a few days to show up on my credit card account. When I asked where he was located, he replied, "Macau." It figures. One other point: I don't know how this Reviews.io site calculates positives and negatives, but all reviews appear to be from 1-star reviewers who say they were ripped off and 5-star reviewers identified by the site as "verified reviewers." I would be willing to bet all the 5-star reviewers are verified phonies.”
“I received a 1.25 charge to my bank account and immediately it came through to me as a message so I checked my bank account and I had never even subscribed to these people for this subscription so it was a fake and fraudulent transaction.”
“YES YOU ACTIVATED A MEMBERSHIP ON MY NEW CREDIT CARD THAT I NEVER AUTHORIZED AND IVE HAD TO TAKE TIME OUT OF MY LIFE TO TAKE CARE OF IT AND NOW I HAVE A CANCELED CREDIT CARD I CANT USE UNTIL I GET A NEW ONE HOW DARE YOU!!!! HOW DID YOU DO IT IT WAS A BRAND NEW ACCOUNT YOU ARE SCAMMERS AND I WILL REPORT YOU!!!!”
“Git a notice from my bank about a charge I did not make to this company. Scammed. I never signed up or even know what this all about. I didn't but a VPN.”
“Charging my credit HH1BILL.COM, which said they were acting on behalf of ActivateVPN. I had never heard of ActivateVPN until tonight. Where did you get my credit card details?”
“I received a message from my bank to say I had been charged by Griftly.com, which said they were acting on behalf of ActivateVPN. I had never heard of ActivateVPN until tonight. Where did you get my credit card details?”
“scam artists. I was billed $1.25 apparently fpr a trial subscription then 2 days later was billed $34.95 for a monthly subscription.
I have never heard of this company, never visited their web site, never signed up for a trial and never subscribed. They also use a third party billing company that firsat says they cant find your transaction, the when pressed they find it and offer to cancel your subscription, but unless pressed again will not offer a refund.
Finally they offer a refund upon much pressure, I'll have to wait and see if a credit actually shows up.”
“Joining "Anonymous".... dame text:
“They took my money for nothing. I subscribed by mistake. If you want to cancel, give your credit card number.... I am not getting a refund and neither will you. Do not sign up for this.”
“I'm happy to recommend Activate VPN to anyone seeking online privacy and security. Their comprehensive features and reliable service make them stand out from the rest.”
