Cotswold and Blenheim Palace holiday 18th Aug 2025 staying at the Whately Hall Hotel. Hotel is impressive from the outside, very old dating back to the 1600's. Plenty of history. We asked for a low floor room but had to climb up a winding staircase and then another kite winding staircase (38 steps) totally unsuitable for my mobility problems. Luckily we could swap with my son whose room was higher but accessible by a lift which you had to go outside for.! From leaving Burtonwood we had a different coach driver every day as our designated driver was ill. Not really a problem though, all very nice but not very chatty. Staff were friendly, general areas clean and tidy. Breakfast was superb, everything you could wish for. Dinners were very lacking in choice and some were inedible. We went out two nights and ate at the local restaurant. Stayed in for dinner on the last night, fish and chips, though not very nice wish we had gone out again. Desserts o.k but hardly any choice. Tables nicely set with crisp white linen and nice cutlery. Service was a bit haphazard, don't think they have many coach parties. The hotel seems to be catering to short stay and overnight guests, or corporate guests Bedrooms were beautiful, newly decorated with modern bathrooms, but no handrails in the shower and dirty shower mat. Tea and coffee plentiful. Not enough drawer storage for a weeks stay. There were 47 people on our coach but the lounge area in the hotel only had seating for about 20 people so could'nt sit and chat like in a Leisureplex hotel Trips out were fine especially Blenheim. But Bicester Luxury Boutique village was totally inappropriate for a coach load of OAP's. Lovely place if you have millions to spend on all the luxury brands. So to close, not the right kind of holiday for your usual Alfa clientele.
