I bought an Xbox one S for xmas. I thought that I was getting a great deal but little did I know the Microsoft xbox requires broad band internet to play even one player games. after spending too much on a single game, console and headset the machine would not play or load the disc until I had agreed to a myriad of terms and conditions. followed by two days of updates. then the system would not let me play the disc unless I had purchased Xbox live service. all this has driven me from gaming. after 30 years of buying and gaming. this was the final straw. after the machine demanded 2 email addresses it also wanted a credit card number presumably to upsell products at a later time. upon returning the merchandise without so much as 10 minutes of gaming done the store would not accept the game as their refund policy excludes software. even if that software is still with all original packaging. Apparently the games on Microsoft are not our when we purchase them, rather we enter into a licensing agreement. this is unacceptable. However, they did offer to exchange for a different type of good. a video or music. but without the machine why would I want to keep the game disc? the store personnel had no idea that the machine that they sold required internet. why would they sell products with no knowledge of the requirements for said merchandise? the sales person was extremely helpful and friendly but the corporate policy is indecent. why did I have to find out after the fact that the machine requires broadband? I hope this helps some other gamer out there. because I will not be getting another system.
