While Birkenstock sandals are indeed comfortable, the workmanship is shoddy (mine lasted only a few hours of normal wear before falling apart)--and worse, the company offers no warranty whatsoever (which is deplorable, given the price tag). Knowing what I know now, I would rather have purchased three pair of cheaper sandals, which would have lasted a few summers. I absolutely would NOT recommend Birkenstocks to anyone, let alone a friend, and have already warned a number of people.
