Brightside has been very helpful on helping me get treatment for anxiety and depression quickly. It would have taken me months to get into a psychiatrist’s office where I live, and I knew I couldn’t continue living the way I was. I see my therapist once a week and she has been instrumental in helping me release trauma and recognize unhealthy behaviors and thought patterns. The only downside to this form of treatment is from a medication standpoint as Brightside is unable to prescribe controlled substances ie… Ativan or Valium for example. When I initially started treatment I was in a vicious anxiety cycle that kept getting worse as I was not sleeping at night. It got to a point where I was having bladder spasms as my body was literally revolting. My psychiatrist through Brightside wasn’t able to prescribe me anything that was effective in breaking this cycle, which ultimately led me to seek in office care from my GP to get on a short course of Ativan. So if you are in any sort of medical emergency or spiral just be aware of their prescribing limitations. Outside of this I really do think it’s a great service that I will continue to use.
