I've waited two months to write this review of our Wharfdale mattress. Mattresses take time to adjust to your body, and vice versa, so I wanted to be absolutely sure before sharing my opinion.
Long story short, this is by far, the most comfortable mattress we have ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. Period.
My partner and I found ourselves in need of a new mattress, due to our previous one being so firm that it was causing us physical pain. So much so, in fact, that my partner's chronic back and shoulder pain forced him to see a doctor.
I, being lighter in weight, could not find any relief whatsoever, with the mattress feeling as if it were pushing into my should and hips, making it harder for me to stay on my feet at work without feeling aches and pains throughout the day.
We eventually said enough, and after extensive research, stumbled upon Button and Sprung. (Thank God!). After looking at a few stores in the area, it became quite clear that their mattresses and customer service were unparalleled.
I laid on 3 different mattresses, the Teesdale, Wensleydale and the Wharfdale. They were all amazingly comfortable yet supportive, however my favorite was the Wharfdale.
Despite how great it was to lay on, I hesitated because of the old troupe about firmer mattresses being supreme to all soft mattresses for support and longevity. I was also concerned that the softer models would not be supportive enough for my partner, as there is a weight difference (I'm 145lbs and he's ~200lbs.) I'm here to tell you to please, please trust your gut. I pulled the trigger on the Wharfdale Super king, and it is by far the best purchase we have made. We cherish this mattress. My partners back and shoulder pain have now fully resolved after physical therapy and our new bed. He doesn't want to leave bed, and the same goes for myself.
It has completely transformed our sleep. We both wake up refreshed, sleep through the whole night without discomfort, outstanding motion isolation, never overheat, and no longer look forward to staying at hotels just to get better sleep than we do at our own home. We now can't wait to get back to our own bed. We are thoroughly spoiled.
As far as customer service goes, I could not be thrilled enough. The whole team was patient with me, passionate and very knowledgeable about their product. You will find that many other places simply do not know what they are selling to you, they just want the sale.
The delivery was very tough with our narrow staircase, the the gentleman who delivered it pulled off a miracle and were just able toget it up the stairs. Hats off to them!
Words of advice;
1. The mattress WILL initially feel firmer than what you experienced in the store. It's the nature of natural materials and the way in which it is constructed. I was concerned, and called to ask if this would change. They assured me it would, and they weren't lying! It's perfect now, couldn't be happier.
2. Buy high quality sheets! Don't do a disservice to yourself and the mattress by pairing it with synthetic, cheap linens. You went through the trouble of buying an expensive mattress with natural materials, don't half-ass it.
3. Rotate your mattress. Flip it if it's double sided. Indentations in the mattress are normal, and you owe it to yourself to make sure your mattress feels as amazing throughout its lifespan. There are instructions on when to rotate and flip on the website...But why not just do it every time you change your sheets? It takes an extra 5 minutes, just do it.
So, there's my review of Button and Sprung and the Wharfdale Mattress. I hope it gives insight to anyone in need of a better night's sleep. I don't typically write reviews, but this was well deserved.
Thank you to the team at Button and Sprung. I'm sure it won't be our last purchase with you
