I did the Great Fosters overnight stay with the dinner, overall the price point of 390 pounds is good and having breakfast included in the morning is a nice touch so going in, happy with the premise. Upon arrival I was disconcerted about my greeting, arriving using a voucher somehow made me a different guest it appeared to others, one receptionist had to confer with another what to do, then they debated if the physical print out of the voucher was acceptable, and all in a public forum of the reception guest and with my finance. If this is something you had done with a new partner rather than you taking them out for a 400 pound night out your now a cheapskate. Not good. The room was ok, the double bed was clearly two singles put together with a significant dip in the middle and again, considering its meant to be hundreds a night as a room, disappointing. The dinner was nice, not spectacular, but aside from a strange misunderstanding if they could hang my jacket - which they did over my chair - something that never happened to me in a Michelin, surely there is a cloakroom! And the chairs are significant in size so not great for the structure of my jacket, but oh well. Breakfast in the morning nice touch to be included, decent menu, but by far the worst food execution, the avacado poached egg I can honestly make better at home, a real surprise. Lastly just the checkout, upon leaving and settling the fact I had stayed on a voucher again was raised and I discussed with the receptionist how gratuity is charged on this amount, this I didnt want, and asked to be removed. I didnt feel the dinner i had was worth more than 110 per person, and dont want to pay service on a room amount. This - considering it is discretionary - caused a real change in attitude and tone and my checkout was completed in I would say under 60 seconds and I left again feeling that being there as a cash guest vs this voucher would be a different experience. Overall the concept of this is good, the price is good, but im not sure the hotel doing this through want if not need, my experience was different as a guest in this way and not in a positive tone, i do caution anyone buying, considering its basically only going to be in a couple to consider especially how you will checkin and out to avoid this potentially awkward and public scene.
