I 100% knew what I was getting into when I decided to use Buyee and researched about all of the fees, and I'm very glad that I chose them as my proxy service to buy stuff from Mercari Japan. The items that I chose ranged from manga to keychains to clothes that I can't find ANYWHERE in the United States. Initially, I had a lot of questions about using the service, but someone from Buyee always answered me the next day (even over the weekend), and the longest it ever took them to buy an item for me was 12 hours (and this was also over a weekend, which is awesome!). I was lucky to buy my stuff during the free Mercari service fee promotion, which saved me a lot of money. As for actually buying the items, all I had to do was press a couple of buttons from Mercari Japan's website that led me to Buyee's website, and my order was completed! This will definitely be the only way I buy from Mercari Japan in the future.
