Bought a car from this company after seeing it advertised on three sites, one of which was Car Shops own, all stated full service history.
Asked to see the service book, told that there was only a print out as it had been a lease car.
Asked sales person if the details on the print out reflected full service history as the balance of manufacturers warranty was one of my prime requirements.
I was assured that it was full service history.
Naively I trusted the staff member and advert rather than ring a dealer franchise to clarify in the absence of a book for reference.
Big mistake on my part!
Car had to be looked at following an issue within the first few weeks so it was taken to a franchise under manufacturer warranty.
They looked at the service record and told me that the history was not complete.
Car Shop have ignored 5 written communications if I include my 3 part review on another site which included registration number to identify car / reviewer.
Also spoke with Sytner Customer Service (parent company and I believe biggest motor dealer in UK), rep listened to my account and advised it would be referred to senior management and that I would receive a call back once that had happened.
There was no call back.
That makes 6 instances of total ignorance.
Recorded letters were sent after this so communications were entered into. Total refusal to accept official manufacturers schedule which proves beyond a doubt that the car should not have been advertised or sold as having FSH.
Declined to answer my questions as to which schedule it had been serviced to following their statement that it had been correctly serviced.
My clam is ongoing so I’m unable to say much more at this point.
If you find a car for sale by this company that you want, take a screen capture or print the advert for your records.
Research the service schedule and intervals before you visit to view the car.
Those are in addition to your normal research as I guarantee you that dealing with this large organisation will offer you no protection from unsavoury business practices.
They are sharks.
You may need to prove what you were viewing as I’m having to.
Car Shop will ignore you and or deny you in the hope that you will give up and go away.
You can probably expect blatant lies too as I’ve experienced on one occasion.
My advice though would be go elsewhere.
They will put you through the ringer for sure, even when you’re the injured party and in the right morally and legally.
Maybe the fact that the Sytner Group are now owned by a large American company, Penske Motors I believe, is why they employ such a vile business model.
Mistakes happen, the way they are dealt with is what matters.
This is without doubt one of the most stressful experiences of my life and I for one will never again do business with any garage that is part of Sytner.
Be careful people.
