Experience booking a one way flight from Germany to USA in Feb 2024 for travel in Jun 2024
~14:30: Selected flights and processed payment online. Received email stating booking is received but reservations may take a few hours
~17:00: Received an email indicating credit card declined payment and requested I call them
~17:10: Had a discussion with Wade (I imagine based in a call center in Asia). Flights originally chosen were no longer available at the same price. Offered a similar flight option for 2 hours later at the same price. Seemed reasonable and accepted. Wade then sent an email with the revised flight details and asked me to click a link to acknowledge acceptance of new flights at same cost
~20:00: Ticket confirmation emailed with confirmation code from operating airline
Legit Aspect: Tickets seem valid and the relevant passenger information was transferred accurately. I found out the amount CheapFlightFares paid for the flights and they upcharged me ~10%, but even that higher price was at a discount to what I was able to find in a major flight search engine and with the airline directly.
Sneaky Aspect: When entering the confirmation code at the operating airline, what was purchased was a roundtrip ticket instead of the requested one-way ticket. Perhaps that’s partially why the ticket was cheaper. I hope there isn't an issue when I don’t take the return flight I didn’t want.
Will update my review after travel but hope it’s hassle free….
