It has been easy to purchase and repair wall plate clocks. I had two broken 30-year-old electric clocks, I replaced the mechanisms but the original hands didn't press fit onto the new clock mechanism. The original hands had a smaller diameter than the new clock shaft. I had to trim the aluminium hands to the correct length with some sharp diagonal/side cutter pliers. I later purchased & fitted the new hands and now both clocks working and keeping good time. So when replacing some 30-year-old clock mechanisms, I suggest buying the press fit kit with the hands etc.
