This company truly deserves no stars. I'm telling you all, believe the 1-star reviews. My story is exactly the same.
We were quoted an awesome price, but then our price doubled once the drivers arrived.
My wife was on a last-minute hunt for a moving company to take our belongings from Florida to Texas. Upon speaking to Gabe, we received a nice quote for $2,178.00 and were so surprised. She even asked him what the catch was. He said there was no catch, and the only thing that could change the price would be if we had larger items than what he had listed. He then rushed us through the contract signing process. He also told us that we were getting a discount because they were headquartered in Fort Lauderdale and their trucks were there, obviously lying about the nature of their business. They are a only broker. They do not own their trucks, and you are likely to get whoever they can find to take the load on that day. Once you pay them, they are hands-off. After that, you have to deal with whichever moving company shows up. Then, you may get a different company to drop off your belongings as well.
Anyway, the next day the drivers showed up, and they were like, "Nope, this load will cost over $5,400." We were shocked and asked, "For what?" Everything we had was what we told Gabe. The only thing we forgot was our 75-inch TV. Everything else was broken down flat, and Gabe told us it shouldn’t take up much space. He even said he had overestimated the space so we would have extra room in case we forgot something.
The moving company tried to contact them to sort out the situation, and we tried to get ahold of them as well. When we finally reached them and tried to cancel, they told us our money was non-refundable and advised us to get rid of things we didn’t need to save on space.
Tony told my that they were working with the moving company to reduce the cubic feet rate for us. The moving guy, who was listening, mouthed to us, "He's lying." We knew this because the moving guy never left our side, so we knew they hadn’t spoken as yet. He also told us that the rate they were giving us was their typical rate, not one they had agreed upon with My Move Price. We decided we couldn’t proceed with the move at such a high price.
At this point, we had only one day to find a way to move our stuff. All night, my wife spoke to Tony. He basically told her to just get rid of the things we didn't really need. He was basically working to convince her to go through with the move. With few options left because we were in the 11th hour, we decided to downsize our belongings. We spent the entire evening getting rid of things we needed but could part with for the sake of saving money.
The next day, they sent different movers who quoted us $4,600+. So, we were back in the same predicament. We had to get rid of more stuff just to get the final price down to $4,026.80.
When we finally received our belongings, all of our larger furniture arrived damaged, most permanently. We decided to file a claim since Gabe told us we were covered up to $10,000. What we didn’t know was that it was only 60 cents per pound. Now, we are stuck with damaged furniture and can’t even claim a fraction of replacement cost.
There’s so much more to this story, but folks, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Those 5-star reviews are fake. They use unfair and deceptive practices to trick people like us who are in a bind.
