Had a dishwasher delivered and when unpacked after holiday found the door was damaged although the delivery packaging was not, so this was clearly a manufacturing fault – the dishwasher had been packed with a damaged door.
Phoned Currys, got transferred to Beko.
Spoke to Beko who said “damaged on delivery” speak to Currys.
Phoned Currys and was told to speak to Beko to get “an uplift number”.
Phoned Beko who said “damaged on delivery” speak to Currys. I said I had and Beko said tough we won’t help or send an engineer to repair it.

This is where the problem began. Currys told me I could have an exchange or refund. I wanted an exchange but the dishwasher was out of stock until the following week. I was told they would phone me back to arrange the exchange or I could phone back on the day stock was due in.
So one hour of phone calls made, and was left still waiting for a resolution.
I phoned back on the date given and was told the following:
The person I had spoken to the week before had “misinformed” me.
They could see a record of my call, but the notes written by the Currys adviser and the recording of my phone call had been “archived” and irrespective of the offer to exchange or refund the terms and conditions meant that it was now too late to return the dishwasher.
I explained that a promise had been made to me.
Currys accepted this, but….. the person I had spoken to the week before had “misinformed” me.
After another 40 minutes on the phone, Currys refused to help, referring me instead to terms and conditions. Their final offer was to refund 15% of the purchase price and would not accept a return of the item because it was damaged.
Reading other reviews I see the “the person you spoke to doesn’t work here anymore” excuse is a common one.
Buyer beware, despite being a high street shop Curry’s are not a reputable company. Don’t waste your time and money, unless you are willing to go through the pain of claiming under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
