TLDR - don't buy a G15 5535 laptop from Dell, their service is garbage. Buy local, at least you have someone you can go to for actual assistance and repairs.
Bought a laptop for my daughter for college. Received early May 2024, packaging good, no obvious damage, started right up. About two weeks later, the display stops working. Googled potential software fixes and worked through them all. Called customer service, and they spent about 30 minutes walking me through all the exact same steps - literally step by step.
Finally, it got to the point he asked me to remove the back panel to check the hardware. I asked if he was kidding, and told him no, I want a tech to come to the house since I was paying for the coverage. After about a week, finally got a tech to the house. He confirmed there was no damage to the hardware, and ultimately found one of the RAM slots was bad. Motherboard needed replacement and he got one ordered.
Just received an email saying the part is backlogged until 7/2/24.
