Really a no star review. Hotpoint/Domestic and General offered to repair my two and a half year old Hotpoint induction hob for no extra cost if we took out a years insurance on the item. This would work out much cheaper than paying directly for the repair. This was an offer I couldn't refuse, I took it and added some other appliances to the policy. An engineer came to determine the parts required. A date a week later was set for the repair. On the day of the repair the engineer phoned to say the part was damaged and couldn't be used. A date was set for another visit over a week later. The day before the appointment I received a strange text from a company I was unfamiliar with asking for part details for a fridge and cancelling the appointment, tracking the company down they appeared confused but they phoned me back and confirmed that the appointment was going ahead.....their engineer did come but he knew nothing about the job. After he left I got repeated texts during the day only confirming that day's appointment no new one was forthcoming. Throughout all this time trying to contact Hotpoint or Domestic and General was infuriating 20 minutes plus getting through to get a recorded message that says it's bit and cuts you off. Domestic and General telling me that they're just underwriters. Getting through eventually to Customer Services they said that they would investigate and get back within 3 working days its now been 4. With Christmas looming I was left with no option but to buy a new hob and pay to have it fitted, I've cancelled my polices with Hotpoint/Domestic & General.
