I've had drivers in the past who turn up, sit in their van, take a picture of your property and then leave. You then get a notification to say that YOU (the customer watching them) have missed the delivery. No attempt to even deliver, or a card through the door.
I then speak to customer service, who roll out the same copy and paste response each time - "we are very sorry for the inconvenience, but our drivers are unable to return until the following day" - not great for a next day delivery service.
They then palm you off with the excuse that they cannot ask the driver to return the same day, as apparently the drivers use their personal mobile phones whilst on the job, and not ones provided by DPD for the purposes of parcel scanning, tracking, etc. - A very clear and obvious lie. After much discussion (from me, not the DPD rep who was copying and pasting responses furiously) they conceded that they could ensure the parcel was delivered by 10:30am the next day but that this would be an extra £10!!! I said that it should be complimentary as they had already messed me around, and they agreed. I am a patient man but when you have paid for a delivery service and the couriers can't even provide that, then try to make you feel as though you are in the wrong, it is just unacceptable.
