When delivery works, it's fine. I have had some successful deliveries with DPD.
However, this is the only courier where I have on several occasions been at home all day, then received a message saying my parcel could not be delivered because I was not available. This happened last week. In all day, the intercom never rang and I received a message with a photo of my block saying delivery was not possible. I thought it was only me this happened to but it now seems I am not alone.
I suspect there must be a loophole in their policies for delivery that other companies do not have. Perhaps the driver gets paid for a missed delivery, maybe the same as for when the parcel is actually delivered? So it makes it more worth it for them to pretend they have tried to deliver, collect the fee for that, then come back another day and try the same or actually deliver that time - and collect twice the fee instead of just one fee. That would be my only explanation to this kind of behaviour.
When deliveries work, they are OK, overall. But when something goes wrong, its hard to rectify the situation. Talking to their AI chatbot is not always very useful. Getting through to a human is possible and then it's a bit hit and miss as to what service you receive.
