My recommendation would be not to use Esure Insurance My father was taken ill a few days after he had taken a car policy out with Esure, so we asked Esure to cancel the policy. They advised us to put the policy on hold, so that when my father was well enough to drive again he could just reactivate the policy. They also said that if my father was unable to drive again they would give us a full refund. Sadly we lost our Father four month later and then within 18 days we lost our Mother as well. Once over the shock, I had the sad task of sorting out my Father and Mother’s finances. All but one company ‘’ Esure’’ where very helpful and sympathetic by doing most of the work for me. Esure made it as difficult as possible for me to retrieve my Father's money, for a policy which he sadly never used. I contacted them around the end of May 2015 to advise them that my Father had passed away and as executor of the will I would like to surrender the policy and have my father's money refunded. This is when my nightmare began. They ask for all type of information i.e. death certificate, copy of the Will, SORN document etc which I totally understand and I gladly sent to them. From then on they put every obstacle they could in my way, after a few weeks of not hearing from them I would phone them, only to be kept on hold for twenty or thirty minutes and then put me through to someone else, were I would have to keep on explaining about my father's death and then my mother's death. Then to add insult to injury they charge you 5p a minute to talk to them as they use a 0845 number on Customer Services. Then they would tell you they need more information. You would resend the information but not hear anything again, so then I would have to go through the emails and phone calls again only to be told they hadn’t received the information and to email it to them and around you would go again. It is now September 2015 I have called again to be told that they couldn’t refund the money to the Bank account I had given them, which I had to open legally to have this sort of money paid into as the executor of my Father and mother’s Will, but they could pay it into my own personal account. I am now waiting to see if this happens. Not once did they contact me to inform me the was a problem, I had to call them every time just so they could charge me 5p a minute to lesson to the next excuse, why they hadn’t sorted it out. My advice to anyone who is thinking of taking out an insurance policy with Esure, is don’t. I would hate to make a claim with this company because if a refund is this hard, can you imagine how long it would take to make a claim.
