! Absolute fraudsters! Avoid at all costs!! I booked my car in for an MOT and as part of the booking process my card details were taken for pre-authorisation. On the day of the MOT, I had a quote sent through via email, this detailed the work that was required. The vehicle had failed the MOT as the front tyres were not road worthy. I received a quote detailing the cost of two new tyres (mandatory) and replacement of brake discs and pads (recommended) . I called the mechanic and requested Bridgestone tyres. He said he would check the price. I called him back and he confirmed that the price of the Bridgestone tyres were the same price as the price that I had been quoted. I accepted the quote. Imagine my surprise when I received a receipt to say that my card had been charged £120 more than what I had authorised! I spoke to the mechanic, who said that it was a Fixter problem. The work was completed on the 19th September 2024 and I have contacted Fixter on 4 separate occasions to try and get the £120 refunded. Each time they respond to say that they are sorry, they are looking into the case and that they will respond by this date. However, they do not respond by the date that they have set. They have left me no option but to post a negative review, to warn other people about their illegal practices.
As an aside, I have since had a friend contact the garage for a quote for the work that I had done, they have been told that the work would be £200 less than the price that I paid. Fixter are rip off merchants, avoid at all costs!!!
