Our house insurance renewal came through and although had gone up quite a bit we decided to proceed. We called them as needed to change my surname to my married name. The lady said it gone up again and she couldn't understand why and would call us the following day.
The same evening we spoke to her an e mail came through stating our renewal, with name change had gone through at the amount first quoted. Then my husband gets a call the next day to say the increase was correct as we are now married and somehow a higher risk, very odd as they had already completed renewal.
I called and a man then told me it would be jncreased but could not give me a reason why being married makes you a higher risk when asked. I have raised a complaint by e mail but so far no response
