I rarely buy in their stores as I resent paying for the membership card. It seems a scam that to shop in their stores costs £5 a year. They pressure you into doing this by showing inflated prices for non members and not particularly cheaper prices for members. To avail yourself of the above average lower price you have to be a member. The berghaus jacket in the colour I wanted was £70 in most other stores. Initially I found it for £55 but then at the till it rang up at £88. It tripwires the stock had been hung under the wrong price label. The bored cashier offered no apology and just muttered ‘Do do you want it or not’. The new label advertised it at £88 then club discounted it to £73 with £5 membership taking it back to £78. The store in York is gloomy and dated and staff are few and far between. I only forced myself in their based solely on availability of that one item and my membership will expire before I return.
On a side note I find it of concern that so many people take time to leave similar poor experience reviews yet GoOutdoors do not respond to any. If this was my business I would be concerned that people felt so strongly that their experience was so poor and maybe react to some of the negative experiences.
