Went to get my battery changed on my Discovery 3. Was told it is not the battery, so I ordered alternator. (Expensive)
Next day after charging my battery overnight, car started once, drive for a bit then died, making me think they were correct about alternator.
Called RAC, Guy tested battery, told me battery has dead cell, needs to be changed, he tested the alternator for me with volt meter and output was rock solid. Changed Battery, has worked fine ever since.
Now have a very expensive spare alternator gathering dust.
