Uber is a terrible company that shows zero respect for its drivers. They treat drivers like disposable labor, constantly threatening to deactivate accounts for rejecting low-paying orders or trips that are unreasonably far away. As independent contractors, drivers should have the right to decline unfair rides without punishment, but Uber bullies them into accepting everything or risk losing their income. Another major issue is Uber’s policy on pets. Drivers with allergies or who simply don’t want animals in their car are forced to accept them or face penalties. This is unacceptable—drivers should have the right to refuse for health or personal reasons. Safety is also a huge concern. Passengers should be able to choose the gender of their driver, especially since many women (and even men) feel uncomfortable being forced into a car with a stranger of the opposite sex. Uber does nothing to address this, putting both drivers and riders at risk. Customer service is practically nonexistent. When issues arise—like drivers wasting gas driving across town for an order that was already picked up or canceled—Uber refuses to compensate them for their time and expenses. Their system is outdated and exploitative, leaving drivers to bear the cost of Uber’s inefficiency. Overall, Uber prioritizes profits over people, exploiting drivers while offering little support or fairness. Until they make serious changes, I would never recommend driving for them or using their service. **1 star is too generous.**
