AN UNBELIEVABLY SHAMBOLIC SERVICE! BUYER BEWARE!
On 30/12/2018 Interparcel accepted my online order for the delivery of a parcel from the UK to Amazon Germany via their agent Hermes. Hermes attempted the delivery, but as Amazon Germany does not accept deliveries from Hermes in Germany, the parcel needs to be returned to me. Hermes have been in possession of my parcel for 17 days today (18/01/2019). The parcel already has spent an entire week back in the UK inside Hermes's routing system. Interparcel advised that it could take another two weeks before the parcel is finally returned to me.
Interparcel's Customer Relations Team is not accepting ANY responsibility advising me and I quote (with all spelling errors remaining): "Amazon at this location will refuse deliveries from Hermes and in instances such as these you would need to check with the delivery address prior to booking. In this way it would be the senders responsibility in all instances to ensure the delivery address will accept the delivery. As Amazon refuse Hermes parcels at this address we would not be able to offer a refund on this occasion."
Right. Interparcel and Hermes cannot be bothered to update and maintain their booking systems with addressees such as Amazon Germany, who do not take deliveries from them. But Interparcel and Hermes happily take your money, make you wait for a whole month before returning the parcel (if you are so lucky!), tell you it's all your fault and that you are not entitled to a refund either. An upright middle finger could not have made matters worse.
You would think that such unreasonable argumentation and reckless behaviour would at least be covered by Interparcel's terms & condition. Think again!
Interparcel hides behind the following 2 terms:
1) SELF-TRACKING SERVICE
Interparcel operates as a SELF-TRACKING service. They argued that I should have contacted them BEFORE the parcel left the UK as they could have intervened at that stage. But why would anybody do that at a stage when the tracking history shows nothing untoward? Is Interparcel expecting its clients to be clairvoyants too? Only once Hermes attempted the delivery did the tracking history show irregular entries. But by that stage all grounds for a refund are being denied by Interparcel.
2) “door to door”
Interparcel services are generally offered “door to door”. Interparcel argue this means that it’s the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the addressee accepts deliveries from Interparcel’s agent. Not only is it completely unreasonable to aspect customers to carry our such checks, it is also reckless to argue that services offered “door to door” are services provided under the proviso that customers carry our such checks.
I intend to update this review, if possible, fearing that I still have not witnessed the full extent of Interparcel’s and Hermes’s shambolic services on this particular order.

Let's review the above self-tracking extract of the last 10 days:
10/01/2019: return process started by Hermes in GERMANY
14/01/2019: received at Hermes in the UK
19/01/2019: received at Hermes in GERMANY
Whilst Hermes is playing ping-pong with my parcel between their UK and German hubs, Interparcel decides to show my parcel as returned to me, whilst it clearly is showing as located at Hermes's Friedewald Hub in Germany!
No wonder it takes 14 working days to return a parcel!
In order to hide their SHAMBOLIC SHENANIGANS Interparcel today decided to stop the self-tracking service for my parcel.
Interparcel's response below raises the following question: Why do Interparcel still take online bookings for deliveries to Amazon Germany via Hermes, if Interparcel have known for years that Amazon Germany will not accept these parcels? The answer is simple: Interparcel takes your money and does not care to maintain their booking system in order to prevent such failures. It is so much easier for Interparcel to make it mine, yours and each other customers' responsibility to check that a company like Amazon accepts deliveries from Hermes at a specific location.
Update 9th Febuary 2019:
Finally, after more than a month, Interparcel admitted that they lost my parcel and informed me that it could take 28 days to receive a final conclusion on my claim for compensation ...
