JULIA
The retailer advised me by email the night before delivery that I would have to be in to sign for my delivery. It was made clear I could not leave a signed note for the driver asking for the parcel to be left in a secure porch, garage, etc. I had rearranged my day so that I could accept and sign for delivery as requested. The following morning I received a text message advising me of my 1 hour timed delivery slot. As it turned out the driver arrived early, so crept into my porch to leave my parcel, without ringing my doorbell. I heard him as he was about to leave and asked him if he needed a signature, he said no! I challenged this, he said he was early so it didn't matter, I asked if what he actually meant was that he would sign the delivery as received, later, instead of me. He said yes. I was not impressed. The way I see it is this, the point of signed for delivery is protect the retailer and buyer, if the driver is going to fraudulently sign for the delivery himself it makes a mockery of the system. I later that morning received a message saying the parcel had been delivered and signed for by Clayton. I had not signed. If my parcel had gone a stray, would i be believed as the parcel was signed for... Also it was a pointless waste of time rearranging ones day to receive the parcel when delivery driver happily took it upon himself to deliver the parcel to suit his own needs. He also parked across the drive, delivering then to my neighbour, his thoughtless parking, or pulling up and stopping, prevented my daughter from leaving for work on time. The entire road was free of parked cars, but he chose to stop In front of our drive.
