I purchased a recliner from them that came with a 1 year warranty. 6 months after purchasing the recliner, the wooden frame broke which made me really sad because I LOVED this recliner. I looked at what the warranty covered and saw that wood was covered so I called JCP to let them know that my recliner had broken. I was told by customer service that they would get this over to the department that handles repairs and someone would call me within the week to discuss my options. That took almost a month before anyone called me back. They blamed it on COVID but this just happened a couple of months ago so not sure if that’s the real reason. They finally called and said that they can’t repair my recliner because they would have to cut the fabric to do so. I was told my options were to pay them to come pick it up, pay a restocking fee, and then they would refund me for the purchase price of my recliner once I purchased another recliner from them OR they would give me a 30% credit to keep it as is. I don’t understand why they would warranty something they can’t fix. I am so glad I didn’t spend the money to purchase the extended warranty. I ended up keeping the recliner and paying a third party to come and take it to the dump. The entire experience with JCP regarding how they handled my recliner breaking was very disappointing. I don’t plan to buy anything else from them. They lost a “valued” customer. :-(
