We purchased two Gibson dinnerware sets from JCPenney. When the items were received one cup and one bowl were broken. I was told it would be necessary to repack the whole set and return it. A new item could be ordered.
I understand damages can occur in transit, not sure how often it happens, but it just feels like JCPenney is willing to solve the problem IF the customer will take the responsibility of repacking the whole set and taking it to be shipped back. This is not a customer friendly solution.
Lesson learned - be careful about ordering online from JCPenney.
