I ordered 3 sets of draperies from their website. They sent me a confirmation email. After a couple of days I went to their website to check for a tracking number. My order was listed as BACKORDED. I called their 800 number and spoke with a man who tried to garble his name. I asked him to repeat his name but he didn’t want to. I asked why I wasn’t notified that my item was on back order. I would never have purchased them if I had known they were out of stock I asked him to cancel my order. He said he could not cancel the order. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She didn’t want to cancel the order. After much back and forth she agreed to cancel the order but she said it would take between 8 and 10 days to credit my card with the amount for the draperies. Then she said that they just place a hold on my card for the amount. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t want to cancel the order for merchandise that they don’t have. Why even advertise items that you don’t have. She eventually hung up the phone on me as if I was wrong for requesting my money back and the order cancelled. I will never order from J CPenney again. False advertising and withholding funds is just wrong.
