I will not write a review describing my opinion of Love Holidays service but merely state facts. I booked a holiday to Dominican Republic Punta Cana for my family and to get married from May 21st- May 29th 2020. I selected pay via direct debit monthly. UK government advised against all but essential travel. That means no carrier or tour operator would consider fulfilling flights even if you still wished to go as it is a term with legal and insurance ramifications. I tried to call Love Holidays. I had around £700 outstanding due to be paid in March/April in two final installments. Each time I called the number was not available. I contacted Love Holidays via Facebook. No response. I called everyday. The number simply was not working. I tried to contact Love Holidays by Live Chat on the website but it appeared nowhere on the website. I lost my bank card (along with a now useless Odeon Cinema Pass) and my subsequent March payment did not go through. Within 24 hours I received a text saying I must pay immediately or risk having my holiday cancelled. Love Holidays called me and told me I must pay immediately or again risk having my holiday canceled with no refund. I said I would pay online as soon as I returned from work. I then said I have some questions about what would be happening with the holiday. The adviser's response was we take payments we don't give assistance. After I complained that I could not contact Love Holidays he offered to transfer me to customer services but instead cut me off. Love Holidays then started to update website and phone message saying customer services on telephone are no longer available. The explanation being Live Chat is faster in dealing with queries (typing messages quicker than verbal communication). Then a message read on their website that Live Chat will disappear when there are too many customers trying to use. As of now, and despite checking every day, I have never been able to access Live Chat. A generic message appeared on website advising you to check with Air Carrier if flight is cancelled, then inform Love Holidays via Manage My Booking that your flight has been cancelled. My Air Carrier will only deal with booking agent as per their policy. I am also concerned that if you select to cancel your own flight rather than the tour operator (ATOL/ABTA protected) cancelling due to not being able to fulfill would have a real impact on rights. The structure of the response management system is a funnel. You cannot ask your rights or your options and instead have radio silence and a simple set of instructions that lead to dead ends with only doorways open that end up transferring responsibility to the customer to cancel their own holiday as opposed to Love Holidays legally cancelling through inability to deliver paid for holiday. I have some additional reservations about their position (stated on social media) that they will first offer a credit note. A credit note would not automatically contain ABTA/ATOL protection and acceptance of a credit note may legally dissolve ABTA/ATOL protection should Love Holidays become insolvent. In addition through investigation I have observed Love Holidays are still advertising heavily on Google Adwords and accepting new bookings for the current no flight window. That coupled with instant request to pay after lost card meant missed payment is food for thought. In summary.................All inbound communication has been cut off (no telephone, email, social media messaging answered or responded to). Live Chat remains the only advised method of contact but is by own admission becomes unavailable should too many use. Funnel system directs customers to cancel own holiday and communicate with Air Carrier impacting their rights as preferred method rather than Love Holidays fulfilling legal duty to inform customers when they cannot fulfill and refund. Instead of issuing refund Love Holidays are offering a credit note (ignore fact it might not entitle you to same holiday as when Co Vid 19 over demand will soar and credit note may only cover part of cost of same/similar holiday) but acceptance of a credit note could remove your protections ABTA/ATOL and part of which would be insurance should Love Holidays become insolvent. I don't know legality of the actions of Love Holidays but the ethics and intent are highly questionable. Customers may face possibility of legal action and/or official complaints to trading standards which is what I am about to instigate now.
