I placed an order for sale goods from Millets website. I got a confirmation email, then a couple of hours later another email saying payment had been declined, but giving me order details so I could order again quickly and easily. I repeated the order and made sure my credit card details were correct. I got a confirmation email, then a couple of hours later another email saying payment had been declined.
I phoned my credit card company to ask what the problem was – they said no problem, we’ve authorised both payments for you and so you have paid Millets twice.
I phoned Millets customer service – totally useless and told me I needed to phone their fraud department. I phoned the fraud department and got an answerphone, because it was 5:03 and they close at 5pm. I left a message, but by 11am the following day no-one had called back so I phoned them again. Nobody available, so I left another message. Nobody phoned back, but I did get this email from them:
Good Morning Mr Jones,
All orders we receive are subject to a security review and on this occasion your orders failed this review.
We wouldn’t advise as to why your order failed the review but we strongly recommend that you ensure all the details supply match that of the payment method.
I can see that one of the orders required additional cancelling - this has been done for you just now.
What a complete waste of time. Time to browse, time to order, time to re-order, time to wait in a queue for useless customer services, time to phone their fraud unit twice.
Millets used to be good until they were taken over by JD Sports. Now a complete waste of space. The guys in the shops are still good, but their eCommerce people are shockingly bad.
