Terry Walburn
Due to a technical issue I was able to get in to the event about 10 minutes late, even after exactly following the directions provided. The Support person that I spoke to did not understand why there was a problem. The overall topic (Handling mental health issues) was misleading. there was a large focus on Special Education rather than dealing with Mental health issues. There was quite a bit of time spent on mandatory reporting, with no new information provided. School administrators know about mandatory reporting. I placed a few questions in the Q & A section that were not answered, at least not directly. Why have a means to submit questions that do not get answered. Some of Mr. Mueller's presentation was very informative. However, the volume on his presentation was terrible. I had to find external speakers to use to amplify the sound to a greater extend, and still could only hear about 60%-75% of what he said. He also laughed a lot during his sessions. The laughing was at the very least awkward, but made it difficult to believe that he was extremely knowledgeable on his topics. Overall, there seemed to be more of a focus on special education and other general items related to education (mandatory reporting, the importance of documenting communications, etc.). I do not feel that I am significantly more knowledgeable on the legal issues surrounding mental health issues today than I was before the seminar.
