We had a very small window to furnish our apartment--had had a day full of problems and delays, and couldn't even begin looking for a mattress until 5pm that night (and assumed we'd be in sleeping bags on the floor). We wasted about an hour and a half looking at department stores, each of which had maybe one "okay" mattress that they'd have to order in and ship in a couple of weeks. We headed to National without much hope, and ended up kicking ourselves for not having gone there first!
