I tried to sell a rent house we own to Opendoor when the tenants moved out. They did their assessment and told us the home was worth only $153,000 fixed up. I knew that could not be correct based on the sales in the neighborhood and even one on the street so we declined after trying to negotiate with them showing them the sales. We ended up putting it on the market and sold it for exactly what we told them we thought it was worth at $170,000.00. I have no problem with a discount for the repairs it needed but they did not even start out with a realistic number. I tried again recently with another one and got the same exact result. The word on the street is Opendoor is moving out of Texas so I assume that is why they are lowballing the values.
