Biggest scamming company out there.
NO JOKE, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
I booked 2 tickets to India at the beginning of 2022 for myself and a friend.
Sadly my father-in-law was informed by the hospital that he had terminal cancer and had a short time to live. I contacted Opodo with this news and they showed zero compassion as I had to cancel the flight. Since then he has sadly passed.
I have spoken several times on the telephone and via emails, almost 50 to be exact. I paid £400 back to my friend out of my pocket as I felt this wasn't his issue and I hoped like any other travel company, medical records could be provided with the understanding I would get a refund, obviously with admin fee charges. This just hasn't happened.
I found the email address of dreams and Opodo CEO, which I have contacted several times with zero replies.
Opodo then informed me that I will get a measly £233 refund. Flights to India are now £2000 each and I am currently out of pocket by £800. Today, 27th Sept 2022, Opodo has again informed me that the funds have gone into my bank and it's my bank's fault, not theirs. I checked with the bank and zero funds have gone in. Again after several emails with photographic evidence that funds are not in my bank, Opodo then began informing me that their accounts department has made a mistake and the funds will go into my account on the 10th of October, a month after Opodo was first informed of the family bereavement.
This has caused a huge amount of strain on myself and my family.
Opodo has also told me to speak directly to the airline. Air France has no direct customer service telephone number and an email was sent without a reply. When I called Opodo once again, the staff asked if I has spoken to Air France, I informed them that I have been trying, and the staff member then replied, I quote, " Ok there is nothing further to discuss, bye, bye" and she hung the phone up on me.
I have had to contact a solicitor and look to build a case against Opodo.
My true advice is for anyone thinking of booking a trip through this company, think again. Go direct with an airline to save the pain, stress, and upset.
For me, this battle continues, and I can see it going on for months, just like the rest of the customers on here having similar issues.
