I wasn't successful at working through the mattes on my Havi's ears, partly because she didn't like me doing that. Other than that, it's smells great and made all 3 dogs coats shiny and fragrant. Felt I applied more than I needed though as I went through 1/2 bottle on 3 10lb dogs
