I am extremely disappointed in the customer service provided by the regional manager, Lisa. She lacked empathy and continuously spoke over me when I tried to discuss my concerns about a rate increase. On top of that, the information she provided was inconsistent with what I was told previously.
I recently received a rate increase of 47%, which is outrageous. After reading numerous negative reviews, I now realize that I am not alone in this experience. It feels like Public Storage is taking advantage of its customers by implementing drastic rate increases that push people out.
I understand that businesses need to adjust rates to account for costs, but a 47% increase is unreasonable by any standard—unless, of course, you are Public Storage. I would not recommend this storage facility to anyone who values their money.
I strongly believe that states should establish rental increase caps for storage facilities, similar to those in the rental housing market. It’s unfair that Public Storage can implement such steep increases with only 15-30 days' notice. With the rising cost of living, they should strive to be fair and consistent.
For reference, the average cost of a 10x20 storage unit in Lynnwood, WA is approximately $273 per month, based on current market data. Public Storage’s pricing and policies are well above this and feel exploitative.
Avoid this company if you can.
