Additionally, I did not receive any clear communication about being enrolled in a subscription, nor was I informed of any upcoming payments that I would be liable for. This lack of transparency violates UK consumer law.
I would also like to highlight the significant issues I encountered when attempting to cancel the subscription. The mobile version of your website does not allow users to log in or reset passwords it just keeps resending a password reset email and times out when you try to reset the password, which prevented me from accessing my account to cancel the subscription in the same manner it was initiated. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (2013), businesses are required to provide a clear and straightforward way for customers to cancel subscriptions. The inability to cancel via your mobile site imposes undue obstacles and contradicts both current regulations and proposed government reforms to prevent businesses from making cancellations excessively difficult.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you are legally obligated to ensure that terms and conditions are clear and accessible before a contract is entered into. In my case, no such terms were clearly presented or agreed to, particularly on the mobile site. Given these circumstances, I expect an immediate refund of the subscription charges to my bank account.
I have contacted my bank to dispute the transaction under the Continuous Payment Authority (CPA) rules and escalate the matter to Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman Service.
