Reverb absolutely refuses to protect their customers. Recently, I made a purchase of a very high-value flute on their website. I made an offer which the seller accepted within a matter of minutes, and then I paid in full within 10 minutes of the offer having been accepted. Three days (two business days) later, I had heard nothing from the seller, so I sent a message asking which carrier would be used to ship the flute, and if a signature would be required upon delivery so I could coordinate my work schedule to be home if I needed to sign for the flute. No response. The next day (three business days after the sale), I sent another message requesting a status update as well as a tracking number. This was done in compliance with Reverb's published guidelines on how to communicate with a seller when an item hasn't been received; they state that a request for a status update should be sent 3 business days following the sale if no communication has been received. I again received no message back from the seller, but he did upload the tracking number and immediately awarded me 3 stars for feedback (out of 5 possible). I messaged him thanking him for providing the tracking number, and then asked why I received 3 stars for feedback. No response. I waited a day and messaged him again, requesting that he reconsider the feedback he had left for me (outlining all that I said above, making it clear that I was following established Reverb guidelines for the timing of communicating with sellers), or provide me with a rationale for why the low feedback score was given and then allow me to correct any "issue" I might not be aware of. Again, nothing. No acknowledgement of the message. So I contacted Reverb asking if they would reach out to the seller to request that he consider revising his feedback, or update it to reflect a more positive experience - as I had done absolutely nothing wrong to warrant a low feedback score. I gave the seller thousands of dollars and then had to wait several days for a tracking number to be provided (which I had to essentially force out of him), only to be awarded 3 stars following radio silence throughout the entire transaction. Reverb said they could not request that the seller revise his feedback. I made a second request, indicating that I would have my account deactivated if I had zero recourse other than to leave a rebuttal on the feedback he had arbitrarily and/or capriciously left for me. Again, Reverb refused to get involved. My account has now been deactivated per my request because I refuse to allow myself to be associated with any online marketplace where such horrible practices are allowed to occur. Keep in mind I have over 1,650 positive reviews (100%) spanning over 23 years on another popular online marketplace, which actually goes to bat for its members when something fraudulent or unethical takes place. My advice (like so many others on here): Stay FAR, FAR AWAY from Reverb. If you are trying to establish an online gear shop, you have literally no way to protect yourself from predatory members who are in no way held accountable for the reviews they are allowed to leave for others. It took just 6 transactions for me to get burned. I'm not hanging around for a 7th.
