I was sent several photographs by a client. They were marked as being photographs, and were guarded with lightweight card to protect them. The lip of the envelope had additionally been sellotaped for extra security. The envelope was more than large enough, to hold six photographs without causing a problem.
Unfortunately when the envelope arrived, the SIDE of the envelope had been slit open from to to bottom. I do not believe this was an accident, if it was then the envelope should have finished its journey to me, having been placed in a plastic bag with covering explanation, as has happened in the past.
Luckily none of the photos were missing.
I issued a complaint to Royal Mail on 18 May, and apart from an enquiry number, and yesterday an automated email, hoping my complaint had been resolved, have heard nothing.
I understand that opening other people's mail is an illegal act. I believe my post was opened, by a member of Royal Mail, thinking that there was possibly money enclosed in the envelope, despite saying 'photo's'.
Royal Mail I am waiting for an explanation please!
