My Mother's garage flat roof was damaged in recent storms. The garage is one building divided by an internal wall and shared with a neighbour. The building has one roof , is made of one material (Felt) and there is no divide on the roof. Saga claimed that the storm damage was due to neglect and wear and tear and refused to pay for the repair. The loss adjuster who attended the site said that in all his time working for Saga they had only admitted two cases of liability when it came to felt roof damage. The neighbour, on the other hand, was insured with Sheila's Wheels who accepted liability and settled the repair in full. I am dumbfounded as to how the same roof could have been judged to have been damaged in two entirely different ways after a severe storm and will be changing my mother's policy to Sheila's Wheels as soon as I am able at the next renewal point.
