TL;DR - Patchy connection in Major Japanese cities. Ubigi is cheaper and very reliable. Can’t speak to any other countries. Device: iPhone 11 / iOS 17.6.1 Plan: 20GB / 30 days I’m heavily relying on Google Maps to get around and find food options from my Japan trip. Data is super patchy in Tokyo and Osaka, meaning results are taking >30 secs to load and images even longer than that. Checked with support and tried a few troubleshooting steps, e.g. manually selecting the carrier, turning my phone off / on. Ultimately, couldn’t get a refund because I used more than 1% of my allowance and the usual “we make no warranties regarding network coverage, quality or availability”. Switched to Ubigi (recommended by my sister) and all my problems disappeared.
