I recently informed the readers of my problems with a £3500.00 Lazy Boy suite purchased from SCS who sell mostly Lazy Boy furniture, I have received a full refund and hope the tips below will help you do the same:
1) Your furniture will probably take up to 6 months for you to get it as it seems that everything is now made in China, but query that with the salesperson.
2) Pay the least amount of deposit as possible.
3) Pay only with a credit card as your provider is just as responsible for refunding you as SCS in the case of faulty goods.
4) An SCS technician will definitely try to fob you off with "wishy washy" reasons why there is not a fault if so do not hesitate in getting an independent inspection done.
In my case this was not needed because SCS conceded there was a fault after trying to deny it after their own inspection but it would have only cost me £130.00 and you can reclaim this back if the independent report is in your favour, which it probably will be.
Ignore any attempts to have repairs done or a replacement given once you have the support of an independent report in your favour.
5) If the goods are not fit for purpose and you want a full refund but are beyond the 30 day limit after receiving the same apply to your credit card Bank for " Chargeback " as this is valid for 120 days as opposed to the 30 day limit set by SCS in the case of faulty goods.
You will still need an independent report to help you with a "Chargeback " claim.
6) If the aforementioned fails go straight to the Small Claims Court and I can assure you that if you have a supported case SCS will settle with you and your Court costs before the hearing date.
