I strongly recommend that you avoid SCS (also trades as DFS) I can only describe my experience as awful. I initially had a wonderful experience and was excited at choosing a sofa that was perfect for our needs. This was all completely ruined by unscrupulous and unlawful actions of the store manager (SCS Stockport) which I only realised when I arrived home. I had a niggle about the deposit amount I'd paid so when I got home I checked the order - which I was never shown in store and told it would be emailed to me. The order showd the manager had added items I didn't agree to including care products and a care warranty and had missold the finance package (that I didn't even ask for and didn't need. I only went with finance because instead of paying 30% deposit and the rest prior to delivery, he said if I take finance I only needed to pay 10% deposit and could still pay the rest on delivery. When the email from the finance company came through it states they'll collect first payment in December - 2 months before the expected delivery date. Further, the SCS website states that a deposit isn't required when you take finance in store. All of the 'paperwork' was done my the manager using a tablet. He sat away from me, asking questions about me (name, address, etc - the sort of stuff you'd expect to be asked). He didn't show me the tablet at any time or ask me anything else - he even completed all the data protection questions himself, without asking me. I hoped that raising with the HO would see this turned around. Unfortunately they're as bad as the store and refusing to cancel the order saying I accepted t&cs. Not only was I not shown these T&Cs but my signature was obtained by deceit. It was a blank screen and I assumed I was simply agreeing to purchase the sofa at the displayed and discussed price. I wasn't even informed about the delivery charge, which is the only thing I would have accepted. More concerning is SCS appears to be refusing my request to cancel the finance agreement. Which is my legal right. It's been less than 24 hours - I have 14 days by law. I feel so duped and stupid for trusting a household name. Hope they're ready for the fight because I certainly am.
