My mother bought an armchair from them with a warranty for £50. Soon after she had to go into a care home and took her chair with her. She was in the care home for 20 months and died aged 97. On clearing her room we found there were some stains on the chair from where she had spilled food on it. It looked like someone had tried to clean it, but not very well. On trying to claim on the warranty, I told them my mother had died. Not one word of sympathy, just a lot of talk about Data Protection. I was then told they would have to send a letter to my mum at the address where she was living when she bought the chair and I would have to go there end pick it up! I was also told to send them her death certificate and Power of Attorney (which lapses on death anyway). I sent a letter to the complaints department. A few days later they asked for the Death Certificate. I said I had sent it to the claims department. They said they had not received it. When I sent them proof of delivery and the time it was delivered and who signed for it, it miraculously appeared. The same thing happened when I sent the next letter. I had to fill in a form saying what had been spilt, when, what had been used to clean it and a myriad of other questions I could not answer.. They also wanted me to send photos. I have no idea how to do that over the computer, even if I had a phone which takes photos, which I don't. I said I would have to get a film for my camera and then have it developed; they eventually said not to bother. Eventually they said someone would come and inspect it! He came and looked at it and said someone would come to clean it, but if it could not be cleaned the arm and seat would be recovered. I then heard from them that the warranty did not cover it as the attempt to clean it had probably bleached it! They offered £126 pounds which they said was the cost of the clean. I asked for the name of the company they use for cleaning and got them out. The man that came told me a lot about how SCF used to employ proper tradesmen to do the cleaning, but now use people who have just had a few week's training. The whole company seems to be useless. They offer a warranty that they wriggle out of when you try to claim. I have not yet read one review where they delivered what they promised. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. A final point: I got a lovely man came to clean the chair and he did a very good job of it!
