About a year ago, I decided to purchase a new sofa and easy chair. I went to the Milton Keynes SCS branch and eventually decided on a Lazy Boy 3 seater sofa and a matching single reclining chair. I duly paid up and with the extras, insurance, etc parted with about £1700. On the agreed date, almost exactly a year ago, the lorry arrived and the first question the delivery man asked was "will it go in through the door? We always end up taking these back!" Sure enough, the sofa would not fit in through the door, so it was put back on the lorry and taken back. I phoned SCS to ask what next and was told that I would have to pay another £200 to have it dismantled and reassembled in the room. I protested that I should have been warned and that I wanted to cancel the order. I was informed by the incredibly unhelpful lady on the phone that that was not an option unless I paid a charge which was about 30% of the order value. I eventually paid the £200 and the job was done. The new sofa is in terms of comfort nothing like the one in the shop, it is hard and uncomfortable. SCS sent someone to remove some of the padding, which didn't really help much.
A year later, I don't use it and just want it gone, but can't sell it on as I can't get it out of the house! The only option seems to be cut it up and dump it! A year old, maybe been sat on for an hour!
All this is because SCS were so keen on getting the sale that they did not warn me that it would not go through a standard door, even though according to the delivery driver it was a known problem!
Incidentally, the recliner chair is also too uncomfortable to use!!
