HARLOW SCS We ordered carpet from SCS Harlow on 12th January 2019, sold on the promise of 2.5 weeks from order to fit - great we thought! The surveyor cancelled the first appointment and it was rescheduled 4 days later. We received a call from SCS that evening advising that the invoice was a little more than the estimate and asked if we could go into store to pay the difference. We went in and were told that the surveyor had, in fact, actually measured it all wrong and we would receive a call during the week as it was a Sunday. We received a call on the following Thursday asking for more payment. We questioned the measurements again and, ironically, the salesman commented that "with no disrespect" he would "rather trust my fitter than you" on measurements. The salesman and the fitter had already messed it up at this stage. We went into store on the next Saturday and thought we had sorted it. We were told we would receive a call 're fitting dates...4 days later and no call so we called them today (Wednesday 30th) to be told it would be another 3 weeks before the carpets could be fitted! 5.5 weeks from order to fit would be more accurate! We noticed that we were being charged £20 fitting costs despite SCS claiming to be offering free fitting included. When I rang and questioned this they offered a unacceptable explaination for the charge. I naturally became angry because of all the above. The phone cut off and, when I called back, the assistant store manager answered. He called me a coward for shouting on the phone to his colleague and suggested that I should come into store to sort it out instead. He also threatened to call the police because I swore during the earlier phone call to his colleague. He also called me pathetic for questioning £20 fitting fee anomoly and said he doesnt care if I am a paying customer, he doesn't want my business and said he would cancel our order! The phone cut off. After 30 minutes or so, I rang him back and asked him if he would like to take the opportunity to apologise for calling me a coward but he refused. The store manager then joined the call and was able to discuss the matter with some decorum and agreed that we should have the £20 refunded and that she would try to get the fitting set for a Saturday which would still make it 5 weeks from order to fitting. SCS is not recommended unless you are happy to be messed around on price and fitting date.
