I rented a car from Sixt for $211 for six days. At the time I rented it, they did not tell me they were sending a text saying that I should inspect the car for damage before leaving their facility. When I read the text at home, it included a list of damages already on the car. I had the feeling I was being set-up for a false claim, which is exactly what happened.
Two days after returning the car, Sixt sent pictures of additional damage including two scratches (down to the primer). I found it strange that two similar scratches occurred on opposite sides. Evidently, they listed the prior damage, didn’t tell me to inspect the car, and then - as predicted - they found additional damage on the returned car for which I am liable.
I checked their reviews on line and many reflected this premeditated attempt at cheating customers. Some people lost quite a bit of money, and many reviews were rated the minimum stars.
