Don’t be conned into taking sky’s ultra fast broadband! Unless you have fibre optic cables running right to your door it is unlikely it will ever work. After having super fast broadband for several years with no issues we were offered ultra fast when renegotiating our deal. Installation was completed and we then had six weeks of no internet access, inability to connect our ‘Q’ box & mini box and worst of all no landline telephones! They did not tell us that our telephones would become voip with ultra fast which is as far as I’m concerned not transparent about what the service was going to be! It was not until after installation we were told that we would need an alternative backup such as mobile phones to use in case of an emergency! Whilst we do have mobile phones this seems to me to be wrong that we were not given all the information required to make an informed choice about taking on ultra fast broadband. We have had for routers, several visits by openreach engineers, sky engineers and skys in-house network team supposedly trying to resolve our problems to no avail! Today we tried to return to our super fast broadband and were told by sky that we couldn’t and that all they could offer was essential broadband! We have had no choice but to cancel our contract! Terrible service! Do not understand why our previous broadband cannot be reinstated! I have been told that sky wish to get everyone using ultrafast and voip phones as wish to reduce costs by no longer needing telephone exchangers! Don’t be conned! If your broadband works as it is leave well alone!
